The disadvantages buying a used car is that, it needs to be checked for theft vehicle, without prior accidents, missing accessories such as airbags, which when replaced cost a fortune, cars survived natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes etc, even if bought from a big and authorized dealer a thorough checking is needed to done by the buyer as there are lot of blind sided problems.  Even if checked by the mechanic the vehicle history report needs to be checked.  Unless checked with an eye for detail one cannot find out if the odometers are tampered or not.  The EEPROM can be reprogrammed easily without any trace of tampering.  Banks do not help financially for a salvaged car.

The important things to be checked while buying a used car is that, if it is fuel efficient, if it has a registration  and if it has insurance coverage.  Due  to higher fuel prices if the car drinks a gallon for even a mile, there is no point buying a used car.  Registration is necessary to avoid  theft car purchase and without insurance you are not sure of any gain in the purchase.  Most of the used car buyers think they have got a good bargain and have ended up purchasing mere junk material.  There is no fun buying a car which drains money on maintenance and repair costs.
